Laura (Swander) Templin

Center Grove High School, 1996 – 2000


Laura earned state champion status in the breaststroke three straight years – 1998, 1999 & 2000, setting consecutive state records.  She was also a part of the state champion 200 free relay team.  Laura went on to swim for Auburn University.  There, she was a member of NCAA Championship team in 2002, 2003, and 2004.  She was an 11-time NCAA All-American and an American Record Holder in the 200 medley relay from 2002-2004.  Laura was a Pro Athlete for TYR Sport, 2004-2005, and then Product Development Manager, TYR Sport, 2006-2009.  More recently, Laura has worked as a Product Manager, for Speedo USA, 2009-2010, and is now an Account Executive, Speedo USA.  She is proud of her brother, Kevin Swander, brother, who is an Assistant Swim Coach (mens & womens) at the University of So. Carolina, and her mother, Pam Swander, who works as SwimMAC Regional Manager in Charlotte, NC.  She continues to coach part-time with Aquajet Swim Club in Minneapolis and give private lessons.  She loves having the opportunity to share what she has learned with the next generation and give back to this amazing sport!  She lives with her husband, Art, and 3 children, Leah, John, and Evan in Minneapolis.
