Jason Gedmin

Munster High School, 1985 – 89


Jason Gedmin swam for Munster High School was a three-time individual state champion. He captured the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly as a junior in 1988.  He then repeated as champion in the 50-yard freestyle his senior year and was also awarded the Herman F. Keller Mental Attitude Award.  Jason was also a member of Munster’s state champion 200 medley relay team his sophomore year.  He was only the second swimmer to break 21 seconds in the 50 free in at an Indiana High School State Championship meet.

In 1998, Jason returned to the pool after seven years, setting Master’s National Records for his age group in Japan for both the short-course meters 50 and 100 free.  Jason lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico, with his girlfriend, where he is a builder of natural homes made from straw, mud, timber and recycled materials, and is also an avid mountain biker, mountain trail runner, and hiker.
