South Bend Central High School, 1930 – 32
Fred Noble swam for South Bend Central High School where he contributed to two state championship teams. He won both the 40-yard and 100-yard freestyle events at the inaugural IHSAA boys state swimming & diving championships in 1930-31. The following year he repeated as champion in the 100-yard freestyle, this time swimming in a 25-yard pool, and became the first-ever state champion in the 50-yard freestyle.
