Byron Fodor

South Bend Central High School, 1932 – 33


Andy was a two-time individual state champion for Beech Grove High School.  His senior year he won the 50 and 100-yard freestyle events, setting state records in both. The 50-yard freestyle record stood for 14 years.  In his senior year he also received the IHSAA HermanByron Fodor swam for South Bend Central High School where he captured individual and team titles. Byron won the 220-yard freestyle in state record time at the 1932 and 1933 state championships. In his junior year, South Bend Central took the team title and finished as runner-up his senior year. Fodor was also part of the runner-up 160-yard freestyle relay at the 1933 championships. Fodor served in the United States Air Force. He attended Franklin and Marshall College and finished his education in Hungary. He was married to Marjorie. Fodor passed away in 1985.
