Ty Richardson

Harrison High School, 1987 – 91


Ty Richardson, a breaststroke specialist, attended Harrison High School in West Lafayette from 1987-1991.  In 1990, Ty won the 100-yard breast state championship title and consistently placed 2nd in the 100-yard breast and 200 yard IM throughout his high school career.  In addition, Ty won the gold medal at the US Olympic Festival in 1990 for the 200-meter breast and the bronze medal in the 100-meter breast.  Ty was a member of the US Swimming National team, and in 1991 he won the silver medal in the 200-meter breast at the World University Games in Sheffield, England.  Ty went on to swim at Auburn University, where he served as captain and was a 5-time All-American, as well as a 3-time Academic All-American collegiate athlete.  Subsequently, Ty received a Master’s Degree in Human Resources from Purdue University Krannert School of Management and currently works as an executive for a large corporation.  He and his wife, Macy, live in San Antonio, TX and have four children.  Ty is still an active swimmer at the Master’s level.
