Ben Davis / Harrison High Schools, 1978 – 82
Sherry Cartwright earned state titles for both Ben Davis and Harrison (West Lafayette) High Schools. She won the 200-yard individual medley all four years, setting state meet records in three of those four years. Sherry also won the 100-yard butterfly her sophomore year at Ben Davis, and her junior and senior years at Harrison High Schools, establishing two additional state marks. Her contributions to her school’s relay teams earned two more titles for a total of nine state championships. In addition, Sherry was the recipient of the IHSAA Mental Attitude Award in 1981. Sherry went on to swim for the University of Michigan for three years. She is currently a math teacher at Ben Davis High School. Sherry is married to Scott Gramer. They have two children.
