Rebecca (Wilson) Filson

Homestead High School, 1997 – 99


Rebecca was a two-time individual state swimming champion for Homestead High School where she swam till 1999. As a sophomore, Rebecca placed fourth in the 500-yard freestyle. At the 1998 championships, Rebecca was runner-up in both the 200-yard and 500-yard freestyle events. As a senior Rebecca reached the top of the podium in both the 200-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle, setting a new state record in the 500-yard freestyle with a 4:48.39. Rebecca continued her swimming career at the University of Georgia, where she was part of two NCAA championship teams, She earned individual All-American honors in the 1650-yard freestyle and relay honors with her 800-yard freestyle relay teammates. Rebecca graduated from the University of Georgia cum laude and then attended Emory University School of Medicine where she earned a Doctorate in Physical Therapy and was presented with the Johnnie Walker Award for best clinician in her class. She now resides in Roswell, Georgia with her children Jack and Emily. She is Vice President of Operations for BenchMark Rehab Partners.
