Lafayette Jefferson High School, 1951 – 55
Maurice placed in the 50 yard free in 1952 as a freshman. In 1953, he finished 2nd in the same event. In 1954, he finished 2nd in the 50-yard free and 3rd in the 100-yard free. In 1955, he won both of the 50 and 100-yard freestyle events.
