Lindsay (Rogers) Benson

Hamilton Southeastern High School, 2005 – 08


Lindsay was instrumental to Hamilton Southeastern’s 2007 and 2008 team runner-up finishes. As a freshman, she swam the breaststroke leg on the Royals 200-yard medley relay team that won and set a new state record, breaking a sixteen-year-old mark. In her individual events, she placed third in the 100-yard breaststroke and fourth in the 100-yard freestyle. Her sophomore year, she took runner-up honors in the 200- yard individual medley and touched third in the 100-yard freestyle, while also swimming on the runner-up 200-yard Medley Relay. At the 2007 state championships, Lindsay and her teammates returned to the top of the podium in the 200-yard Medley Relay, setting a new state record. She also swam on the champion 200-yard freestyle relay. In her individual events she was runner-up in the 200-yard individual medley and the 100-yard breaststroke. As a senior, Lindsay repeated as runner-up in the 200-yard individual medley and 100-yard breaststroke. Her relay teams captured gold as they broke a 13-year old state record in the 400-yard Free Relay and set a new National Record in the 200-yard Medley Relay. Lindsay went on to swim at the University of Florida, where she was a member of the 2009 Southeastern Conference (SEC) Championship team and the 2010 NCAA championship team. At the 2009 SEC championships, she swam the breaststroke leg on the winning 200-yard medley relay that set a conference record. At the 2009 and 2010 NCAA championships, she earned All-American honors swimming on the Gator’s 200 and 400-yard medley relays. Lindsay now resides in Noblesville, Indiana with her husband, Tony Benson.
