Franklin Community High School Coach, 1966 – 2006
Kurt coached swimming and diving at the high school level for 40 years. He attended Indiana University with the intent to learn how to teach and coach swimming and diving. He worked diligently during this time to hone his knowledge of the sport of diving. As a result, his teams have claimed six individual state champions plus two state record holders, three All-Americans, two Honorable Mention All-Americans and ten Academic All-Americans. His teams have produced two sectional team championships and 16 conference championships. Personally, Kurt has received two Girls State Diving Coach of the Year awards, ten Sectional Coach of the Year titles, and was elected to serve on the state championship diving panel 20 times. Coach Hass and his wife Janet have two children, Mark and Amanda.
