Joe Keller

Northridge / Fishers High School Coach, 1991 – Present


Joe Keller is a long-time Indiana high school swim coach having coached at Northridge High School from 1991-2017 and has been the Head Coach at Fishers High School since 2017. During his tenure, the Northridge Raiders had four individual state champions winning a total of eight individual state titles. The Raiders also had five individual runner-up titles and four runner-up relay titles. With the Fishers Tigers team, Keller has racked up five team runner-up titles as well as four individual state champions, seven runners-up and two relay runners-up finishes. Keller’s swimmers have gone on to swim at some of the nation’s top colleges including Indiana, Louisville, Purdue, and North Carolina State. One of his current swimmers, JoJo Ramey was recently named to the USA Swimming National Team. He has also coached a Paralympic swimmer to the World Championships in 2017. Keller grew up in Petersburg, Indiana, and went on to swim at Ball State University where he finaled at the Mid-American Conference championships all four years. He received the highest honor for a swimmer, Ball State’s Senior Award and was a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta National Honor Society. He graduated from Ball State with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and a minor in History. He also earned a Master of Science in Education from Indiana University, South Bend. Keller has earned many coaching accolades including numerous conference and sectional coach of the year; Central Zone Team Coach; Indiana Swimming Olympic Training Center and Senior Elite Camp Head Coach in 2005, 2012, 2015, 2017, and 2019; Ball State University Alumni Girls Swimming Coach of the Year in 2002, 2012, and 2013; Ball State University Alumni Boys Swimming Coach of the Year in 2005, 2008, 2009, and 2013; Indiana High School Boys State Coach of the Year in 2005 and the Indiana Girls State Coach of the Year in 2020; the Indiana Swimming Coaches Association Outstanding Senior Coach in 2003, 2005, and 2007, and the 2020 Jim Clark Memorial Award presented to an Indiana Swimming Coach who has shown a continued, active effort in the development of Indiana Swimmers and the programs that USA and Indiana Swimming provide. In 2021, Coach was awarded the Phillips 66 Outstanding Service Award by Indiana Swimming, and in 2022, he was awarded the Jim Hartzer Memorial Award by Indiana Swimming for Outstanding Contributions in Leadership, Service, and Performance. Keller resides in Fishers with his wife Patti. They have three children, Philip, Kristopher, and Timothy.
