Hammond Noll/Lake Central High Schools Coach, 1974 – 2004
Jim is one of the few coaches to win state titles at different schools. He began his coaching career at Maine North High School in Des Plaines, Illinois in 1973. Jim coached at Hammond Bishop Noll from 1974 until 1984, where he won the 1981 and 1984 boys state titles. He also coached Lake Central to their only boys swimming state championship in 1987. Additionally, Jim’s girls team finished second in the state in 1983, and his boys teams finished second in 1990 and 1999. Overall, Jim’s won-loss record was 536-140-5. In 1987 he earned State Coach of the Year honors, and he helped produce 20 individual state champions. He retired from teaching and coaching in 2004, and currently works as an aquatics specialist for Daktronics. Jim and his wife Mary Ann, are the proud parents of daughter Katie.
