The Indiana High School Swimming and Diving Hall of Fame was established to honor those athletes, coaches and special contributors who have contributed to high school swimming and diving in the state of Indiana.
James Everroad
Columbus High School, 1960 – 61
James was a diver for Columbus High School during their string of championships in the late 1950’s and early 1960’s. At the 1960 state championships, James, a junior, was runner-up in diving as Columbus won their second team championship. As a senior James won the diving event setting a new state record and Columbus won their third straight team championship. James went on to compete in diving at Indiana University and was coached by International Swimming Hall of Fame Coach, the legendary Hobie Billingsley. He won the national junior championship in one-meter in 1963. He also competed in gymnastics and earned the LG Balfour award for gymnastics in 1965. He continued diving after college and went on to medal at the World Masters Diving Championships in 2015 and 2017 earning silver medals. He also won the National Master Diving platform championship in 2016. James interest in fitness led him to develop a book “How to Flatten Your Stomach” which sold over two million copies. This accomplishment earned him inclusion in the self-publishers hall of fame as well as the National Fitness Hall of Fame. James in now retired living in Columbus. He has two children, Blake and Lisa and three granddaughters, Victoria, Carly and Jackie.
