Ginger Faerber swam for Carmel High School from 1986-90.  As a freshman she won the 50-yard freestyle. However, her specialty was the 100-yard backstroke, winning state titles her sophomore, junior, and senior years. Ginger also participated in four relays that earned state championship titles during her career, giving her a total of eight state titles. Her junior year, the Carmel High School 200-yard medley relay team set a national record, with a time of 1:45.73, a state record that stood for 17 years.  In addition, Ginger was the recipient of the 1989 IHSAA Mental Attitude Award.

Ginger went on to swim for Purdue University, where she earned Academic All-American honors and was a Big Ten Conference finalist in the 100-yard backstroke. Ginger was a four-year letter winner at Purdue and served as captain of the team in 1993-94. She was also employed as an assistant coach swim coach at Purdue from 1994-97.  Ginger and her husband Matt live in Zionsville with their six children.
