Valparaiso High School, 1963 – 67
Greg MacDonald was a three-time individual state champion for Valparaiso High School. He won the 50-yard freestyle in 1964-65 and 1965-66, setting state championship records both years. He then won the 100-yard freestyle in 1966-67, also in state record time, becoming the first to go under the 50 second barrier with a time of 49.8. He was also a member of the winning 200-yard freestyle relay in 1964-65. Greg was named a high school All-American in 1967. He earned a scholarship to swim at Indiana University. Greg is now a dentist living in Valparaiso with his wife Judy.
