Curt Reynolds

Warren Central High School, 1975 – 79


Curt Reynolds was a two-time state champion and recipient of the Herman F. Keller Mental Attitude Award in 1979.  Curt was coached by G. Con Keller, Indiana HS Swimming Hall of Fame Coach and son of Herman F. Keller while attending Warren Central HS from 1976-79.  Curt won the 200 IM and 100 yard back state titles in 1979, setting a state record in the 200 IM with a time of 1:55.2 and receiving All-American status.  In the 1978 Indiana state swim meet, Curt was the first junior to break two minutes in the 200 IM with a time of 1:58.9.  Curt attended the University of Wisconsin on a swimming scholarship and he was a Big Ten conference finalist in the 200 IM for three years.  Curt graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1983 with a degree in civil engineering and received Master of Science (MSc), and Ph.D. degrees in civil and agricultural engineering from the University of Arizona in 1993 and 1998, respectively.  Curt served in the US Peace Corps in Kenya from 1984-86 and he has worked for the US Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Foreign Agriculture Service (FAS) in Washington D.C. since 1999.  Curt is married to Anita Mhina and they have five children – Sayi, Nemkunde, Mbalu, Robeya, and Andreane.
