Carmel High School, 1979 – 80
Colleen Metzgar McNutt swam for Carmel High School from 1978-80. As a senior, Colleen swam the breaststroke leg on the Greyhounds winning the 200-yard medley relay that established a new state record. She was also champion in the 100-yard breaststroke, breaking the state record in the preliminaries. Colleen was also runner-up in the 50-yard freestyle helping her team to a third-place finish at the 1980 state championships. As a junior, Colleen established a new state record in the 50-yard freestyle in the preliminaries, finishing as runner-up in the finals. She also finaled in the 100-yard freestyle, helping Carmel to a third-place finish at the 1979 championships. Colleen went on to swim at Miami University (OH), where she was part of three Mid-American Conference championship teams. She was a member of the winning 200-yard medley relay team and won the 50-yard breaststroke. She qualified for the first NCAA championship in women’s swimming and diving in 1982 and competed in the 100-yard breaststroke and 400-yard freestyle relay. Colleen is now a stylist for Carlisle – ETCETERA. After living abroad in Germany and England, Colleen now resides in New Albany, Ohio with her husband Dan, also a Carmel graduate. They have three sons, Ryan, Maximilian, and Austin.
