Munster High School, 1974 – 78
Chris Chelich, a diver for Munster High School, won two diving state championships, 1977 and 1978, establishing two state records as well. These titles were the fourth and fifth for the Chelich brothers. Chris helped his team to the 1977 team title and in 1978 his performance set a state record by more than 50 points. After high school, Chris earned a scholarship to the University of Wisconsin, and in 1982 earned All-American honors with an 8th place finish in the one-meter event. Chris also pitched for the University of Wisconsin, Madison baseball team from 1978-1982, and went on to pitch with several semi-pro baseball teams. Chris played with a baseball team from Wisconsin that won the WBA State Tournament in 1988 and was a runner-up in the NBC Tournament in 1986. He was voted most valuable pitcher in the WBA Tournament. His senior year, Chris was voted to the Indiana High School All-Star Baseball Team. Chris says that his most valuable accomplishment is his marriage to his wife Janick. They have two children Camelia and Charlotte. Chris continued his career in baseball and coaches baseball at all levels at Jack Perconte Sports Academy, in Illinois.
