Whiting High School, 1929 – 33
Albert Ehlers was a two-time state champion for Whiting High School in the 100-yard backstroke. He was the first ever state champion at the inaugural boys swimming and diving championship in 1931. In 1932, he finished 3rd in his signature backstroke event. He then repeated as champion, besting his record time in 1933. He was also a part of the state record 120-yard medley relay, swimming the backstroke leg in 1931 and again in 1933. He helped his high school team to the state championship in 1933.
