The Indiana High School Swimming and Diving Hall of Fame was established to honor those athletes, coaches and special contributors who have contributed to high school swimming and diving in the state of Indiana.
Christine (Shehorn) Weitz
North Central High School, 2001 – 05
Christine was a two-time individual swimming champion for North Central High School. She was instrumental in her team’s three runner-up finishes in 2002, 2003 and 2004. Christine’s freshman year she placed third in the 500-yard freestyle while helping her team to a runner-up finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay and swimming on the state champion 200-yard freestyle relay. As a sophomore, she again touched third in the 500 freestyle and she swam on both the champion 200-yard and 400-yard freestyle relays. Christine won her first individual title her junior year in the 500-yard freestyle, while taking the runner-up honors in the 200-yard freestyle. Senior year was a repeat performance, winning her second individual title in the 500-yard freestyle and touching second in the 200-yard freestyle. Christine was honored her senior year with the 2005 IHSAA Mental Attitude Award. Christine attended Purdue University and continued her swimming career competing in the Big Ten Swimming & Diving Championships. She transferred to Indiana University, Bloomington where she graduated with a Nursing degree. During college she also established the Barbara S. Shehorn Mental Attitude Scholarship at North Central High School to honor her mother. Christine has worked as a pediatric Registered Nurse. She currently resides in Carmel, Indiana with her husband David Weitz and children, Caden and Ella.
