Merrillville High School, 1979 – 83
Robert Beck competed for Merrillville High School from 1979-83. He earned a state championship as a freshman in the 100-yard freestyle. He went on to win two more state championships; the 200-yard freestyle as a junior, and the 200-yard individual medley in a state record time as a senior. Bob competed collegiately at the University of Texas, receiving All-Conference and All-American honors. He was a finalist in the 1984 U.S. Olympic Trials. Bob currently lives in Chicago, where he is a commodities trader. He has a son and daughter.
