Missy McCracken swam for Carmel High School from 1985-89. She earned five individual state titles for the Greyhounds and was part of the first three championship teams in Carmel’s current national record streak.  She won 200-yard freestyle in 1986 and 1988, and the 100-yard butterfly three straight years from 1986-88. Missy became the first female to break the 56-second mark in the 100-yard butterfly, by swimming a 55.84. Missy also took part in two state championship relays, to bring her total state titles to seven. Of special note, in 1988 the Carmel High School 200-yard medley relay set a national record, with a time of 1:45.73.

Missy went on to swim at the University of Michigan where she was part of four Big Ten Conference championship teams and earned All-American honors.
