Chesterton High School, 2006 – 10


Kyle_WhitakerKyle swam for Chesterton High School and led the team to IHSAA state championships in 2008 and 2009.  Kyle earned eight individual state titles, in addition to four state relay titles.  Kyle still holds four state high school records, as well as the national high school record he set in the 200-yard individual medley in 2010.  He was awarded the Herman F. Keller Mental Attitude Award in 2010.  He graduated from Chesterton High School in 2010, with academic honors.  During his high school years, Kyle was a six-time Junior National winner, as well as a three-time Senior National qualifier.  In 2008, Kyle was an Olympic Trials qualifier. In 2009, he was a bronze medalist in the 400-yard individual medley in the Sweden World Cup.  Kyle earned “Swimmer of the Year” honors all four years of his high school career, as chosen by the Indiana High School Swim Coaches Association.  He was named at the 2009-10 National High School Coaches Association Swimmer of the Year.  Kyle swam for the University of Michigan.
