Debbie Daniel swam for Anderson High School from 1981-85. As a freshman, she began two winning streaks.  She won three straight 50-yard freestyle titles and was the first female to break the 25-second mark. Debbie also won four straight 100-yard freestyle state titles and was the first female to swim under 52 seconds, with a time of 51.95 her junior year.  Debbie was also a member of three relays that won state championships, giving her a total of 10 state championship titles over the course of her career. In addition, Debbie was the recipient of the 1984 IHSAA Mental Attitude Award.  Debbie went on to swim at the University of Florida where she was a member of an American Record setting relay and the 1988 NCAA champion 400 and 800-yard freestyle relays.  In 1988 she also competed in the Olympic Trials.  She also earned Academic All-American honors while at Florida. Debbie is employed in the pharmaceutical field and she lives in San Clemente, California with her husband Joseph and two daughters. Her daughters now swim for the Mission Viejo Nadadores at the same pool she competed in as a child.
