Andy Pedersen

Hamilton Southeastern High School Coach, 1994 – Present


Andy Pedersen has coached the Hamilton Southeastern High School girls team since 1994, and the boys team since 2001.  During his tenure, his boys team won the IHSAA State Championship in 2007 and finished as runner-up in 2008.  His girls team finished as IHSAA State runner-up in 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2016.  His teams have earned 17 consecutive girl’s sectional titles, and 12 consecutive and 13 total boy’s sectional titles.  In addition, Andy has helped to produce over 100 All-America swimmers in his career.  He has produced three individual state champions along with five runners-up.  Three of his relay teams have won state championships, one setting a state and national record.  Andy has earned numerous honors including High School Coach of the Year 9 times, plus National High School Coach of the Year in 2005.  Coach Pedersen has also been USA Swimming National Team Coach. Andy graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science.  Andy is a 1986 graduate of Bedford North Lawrence High School. Andy was named the 2017 National Federation High School Coach of the Year.  He said, ” The support network of the Hamilton Southeastern Program has been the common denominator of his success.”  Andy is married to Erica, a 3rd-grade Teacher in Hamilton Southeastern School System, and they have three children – Ellie, Molly, and AJ.
