Harry Inskeep Scholarship award winners:
The recipients will receive a $250 scholarship for their prep accomplishments, which will be
submitted to their future educational institution. This year’s honorees include Alexis deLong from
East Central High School and Matthew Rach from Penn High School. Alexis is ranked 17 th in her
class of 297 students with a 4.096 GPA. She is a multi-sport athlete having participated for four
years in high school swimming and one year in cross country. She is a member of her school’s
National Honor Society, Spanish Club, Drug Free Clubs of America, FCA, and Advanced Choir.
She and her teammates coined the phrase “I Am Enough” to help with low self-esteem. One
season, she purchased bracelets with this motto for each member of the team to wear as a
reminder that they are valued. Alexis plans to attend Indiana University and study biology/pre-
physical therapy. Matthew earned four varsity letters in swimming where he was named team
captain and MVP. He is ranked 15 th in his class of 757 students with a 4.3 overall GPA.
Matthew’s other activities include National Honor Society, jazz band and T.E.A.M.S. (Test of
Engineering, Aptitude, Math, and Science) where he has been a national finalist. He has earned
two Academic Letters and this spring will graduate as valedictorian of Penn High School.
Matthew’s post high school plans are to attend Purdue University to study engineering.
